Get in touch

Shalemli is built and run by one person. The fastest way to reach me is email — I read every message and usually reply within a day or two.

Common questions

I can't sign in with my phone number — the code never arrives.

SMS delivery sometimes lags by a minute or two on certain carriers. Wait 60 seconds, then tap Resend. If a third attempt still doesn't arrive, double-check the country code and the phone-number format. Persistent failures: email me with the number you're trying — I can verify whether the code was actually sent on our end.

How do I add a friend to start tracking balances?

On the Payments tab, tap the + in the top-right and choose Single payment for a one-on-one channel or Group for three or more people. Enter the other person's phone number — they'll get an invite they can accept inside the app.

How do I delete an expense I logged by mistake?

Open the channel, tap the expense row, then tap Cancel expense. The other side has to approve the cancellation — same two-sided rule that applies when you create one. Once approved, the balance recalculates automatically.

How do I delete my Shalemli account?

Profile → Delete account. Your profile data is cleared immediately and you're signed out. Your Firebase Authentication record is fully erased after a 30-day grace window (during that window you can sign back in to restore the account if you change your mind). Some snapshot data on shared channels — your name as it was when those channels were created — remains on the partner's side, since the partner has rights to the shared history. The full picture is in the Privacy Policy, sections 10 and 11.

My friend deleted their account but I still see them in our channel — what's going on?

That's by design. Shalemli won't rewrite shared financial history behind your back — your partner's expense entries and the running balance stay visible until you decide what to do. If they had an unsettled balance with you when they deleted, you'll see a yellow banner at the top of the channel offering to auto-settle and archive. Tap Yes, settle to zero out the balance and move the channel to your archive — or Not now to keep the option for later.

I lost access to my old phone number. Can I move my account?

Not automatically — Shalemli accounts are anchored to the phone number you used to sign up, and we don't have a way to verify you're the same person if you can't receive SMS at that number any more. If you've lost access to your old number, email me at limbaev@013.net.il with enough context (display name, approximate sign-up date, names of a couple of channel partners if you remember them) and I'll see what we can do.

How do I export my data?

Profile → Export my data produces a JSON file with everything in your account — channels, expenses, settlements, your profile fields. The file is offered via the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, mail it to yourself, or anywhere else. This is the same export covered by the GDPR right of access described in the Privacy Policy, section 12.

A push notification arrived in English even though I use the app in Hebrew (or vice versa).

Push-notification text is rendered by iOS using the language of the device that receives the push — not the language chosen inside Shalemli. So if your iPhone is set to English in iOS Settings, push banners appear in English even if you've switched the in-app language to Hebrew. Change the iOS system language under Settings → General → Language & Region if you'd like push notifications in the other language.

Reporting bugs

Shalemli is a small one-person operation, and bug reports help me more than you might expect. If something looks wrong, behaves unexpectedly, or just feels off, please write in. Include the steps that triggered the issue, what you saw, and what you expected. Screenshots and short screen recordings are great.

Privacy and data

Full details of what data the app collects, where it's stored, who it's shared with (short answer: nobody outside the channel partners you choose) and how to delete or export it are in the Privacy Policy. Most user-facing questions about data are answered there.

Open-source acknowledgements

Shalemli is built on Apple's SDKs and on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions). The full hosting and processing details are in section 5 of the Privacy Policy.
